Operations Assistant

The Operations Assistant supports Alliance for Justice (AFJ) by providing administrative, logistical, and operational support to ensure smooth functioning of AFJ's day-to-day activities. This role is essential to maintaining efficient office operations, supporting organizational processes, assisting with event and meeting coordination, ensuring office and technology needs are met, and supporting staff across the organization.

Working as part of the Operations team, the Operations Assistant helps ensure that internal systems run effectively, and that staff have the resources they need to advance AFJ's mission.

Duties and responsibilities include providing general administrative and operational support, supporting office logistics, serving as on-site support in the Washington, DC office, coordinating office maintenance and repairs, coordinating and managing staff equipment and supply needs, serving as a point of contact for subtenants, assisting with meeting and event coordination, supporting technology coordination tasks, assisting with onboarding and offboarding processes, supporting compliance and administrative procedures, and providing general support to Operations leadership for special projects and organizational initiatives as needed.

Required qualifications include administrative, operations, or office support experience, a bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy, strong communication and customer service skills, comfort with Microsoft Office and basic technology troubleshooting, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred qualifications include experience in a nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven organization, experience supporting hybrid or distributed teams, and experience with database or information management systems.

This is a union position covered under the terms of a collective bargaining agreement with the Washington-Baltimore News Guild, CWA Local 32035, which includes salary minimums based on job position category. This position is in job group 1 and has a starting annual salary range of $57,500-$63,751. We offer a comprehensive and generous benefits program, including insurance, retirement, time off, and parental leave.

Work environment includes a hybrid work arrangement with at least one in-office day per week, a typical office setting, physical demands including regular use of a computer and occasional travel, and a full-time schedule with days and hours of work from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some occasional evening and weekend hours required.

Direct reports include no direct supervisory responsibilities.
