About the Role

The Company is in search of dedicated individuals to join its Board of Directors. Board Members play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring financial sustainability, and advancing the mission of supporting survivors of domestic violence. This volunteer position requires a commitment to attend regular board and committee meetings, as well as to contribute expertise, resources, and networks to support the organization's growth and impact. Major functions of the Board of Directors include articulating the company's mission and purpose, supporting its commitment to societal change through public policy, and establishing and evaluating the Executive Director. Board Members are also responsible for setting and achieving short- and long-range goals, enhancing public awareness, and recruiting and orienting new Board Members. Candidates for the Board of Directors at the company should be prepared to uphold and model the organization's values, and to make an annual financial contribution. Expectations for Board Members include supporting and participating in fundraising activities, attending Board and committee meetings, and representing the organization at public functions. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated individual with a strong commitment to the mission of the company, and the ability to work collaboratively with other Board Members to effect positive change. Experience in areas such as nonprofit governance, finance, legal, or fundraising is highly valued, as is a deep understanding of the issues surrounding domestic violence and a passion for empowering survivors.
