Job Description

Summary The Lead Engineer, Software shall be responsible for developing, debugging, validating and deploying Network Operating System (NOS) SW code to be deployed in switches and routers that are targeted for DataCenter/AI-DC, Enterprise and Campus markets. This is a pure individual contributor (IC) role and the ideal candidate is required to have a strong background in NOS architecture and L2/L3 protocol development. The Lead Engineer, Software works in cross‑functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. General Overview Functional Area: Engineering Career Stream: Design - Software Engineering SAP Short Name: LEN-ENG-DSE Job Level: Level 08 IC/MGR: Individual Contributor Direct/Indirect Indicator: Indirect Detailed Description Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Work as a team member who understands/interprets technical problems and provides technical support. Solve assigned problems under guidance of more senior engineers. Analyze, design and develop tests and test‑automation suites. Design and develop a processing platform using various configuration management technologies. Test software development methodology (may be done in agile environment) Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Collaborate cross‑functionally with customers, users, project managers and other engineers including Peer‑Reviews to achieve elegant solutions. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices. Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations. Knowledge / Skills / Competencies Networking Stack – Layer‑2 (xSTP, LLDP, LACP etc), Layer‑3 (BGP, OSPF, PIM etc), IPSec, IKE, GRE, EVPN/VxLAN, MPLS, QoS Management – SNMP, Netconf/Yang, REST, CLI, gNMI, gRPC System Features – Platform Bringup (including implementing linux device drivers), Stacking, High Availability etc. Programming Language – C, C++, Python, Go NOS – Experience in NOS development/sustenance. SONIC NOS experience is a plus. ASICs/NPU – Working experience with Broadcom preferred (XGS/DNX family) or Marvell – Innovium/Prestera family of devices. Leadership – Demonstrate "Individual Leadership Behaviors" as per Celestica Leadership Imperatives. Financial Acumen / Business Planning – Solid understanding of Celestica’s budgeting and accounting system and the cost accounting practices relevant to engineering work. Additional competencies may also be required, such as Coaching/Mentoring; Communication/Negotiation/Presentation; Creative Problem Solving; Customer Interaction/Stakeholder Management; Quality & Lean; Working Effectively with Others; D/PFMEA; 8D/Corrective Action; Equipment Safety; Design of Experiments (DOE). Physical Demands Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment. Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required. Occasional travel may be required. Typical Experience 6 to 10 years Typical Education Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
