Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract assignment in an acute care hospital setting located in Woodsville, New Hampshire. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse adult patient population.

The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a variety of medical and post-surgical conditions, including general surgery recovery, cardiac issues, respiratory diseases, and withdrawal protocols. This position requires a flexible and adaptable professional capable of working night shifts and potentially floating to other units to support patient care needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to medical-surgical patients.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, assess conditions, and document observations accurately.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Manage post-operative care for general surgery patients, including those recovering from hernia repair, resections, cholecystectomy, and amputations.
  • Care for patients with common medical diagnoses such as atrial fibrillation (afib), congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and those undergoing withdrawal protocols (CIWA).
  • Identify and respond to potential sepsis cases, initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Perform essential nursing procedures including phlebotomy, IV starts, and EKG interpretation.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe patient environment, adhering to infection control policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of recent acute care RN experience.
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy, IV starts, and EKG interpretation.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in Telemetry.
