About the Position

Nursing practices are based on evidence, current research, and professional guidelines. Clinical decision-making incorporates all phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through relationships among nursing staff and other disciplines. Responsibilities include coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities. Conduct nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments. Facilitate admission, transfer, and discharge activities. Provide patient and family-centered education. Create individualized treatment plans as applicable. Perform and document a comprehensive assessment according to scope of practice and policies. Consider the patient’s culture, age, and developmental level. Identify patient risk factors and presenting complaints. Collect objective and subjective data. Verify initial admission assessments if completed by other team members. Develop a prioritized problem list based on input from the inter-professional team. Design actions and interventions relevant to the patient’s culture and age. Determine desired outcomes in coordination with the patient and family. Fully implement patient care therapies and procedures with clinical autonomy. Explain procedures, treatments, and processes to the patient and family. Initiate action to alleviate patient stress and discomfort. Recognize and communicate changes in patient condition appropriately. Conduct ongoing assessments and document responses to therapies. Delegate tasks appropriately and oversee team performance. Monitor the accuracy and completeness of delegated patient care. Identify and address educational needs of patients. Facilitate the discharge process by executing discharge orders timely. Provide input into patient/nurse assignments considering staffing and acuity. Demonstrate active participation in unit-based activities supporting organizational values. Promote a positive group dynamic and healing environment. Ensure nursing excellence according to accepted standards and evidence-based practices. Participate in quality improvement activities and core measures. Utilize a holistic perspective regarding patient care. Show understanding and knowledge of computer systems and applications. Communicate effectively and respectfully with all team members and patients. Warmly greet all customers, promoting high levels of satisfaction. Design safety measures and devices for patients. Education required: ADN or ASN. Preferred education: BSN. Preferred skills include previous nursing experience.
