TITLE: Health Care Coordinator
STATUS: Full-Time Seasonal (May 1 - September 4, 2026; remote through May 25, onsite May 26)
REPORTS TO: Director of People & Culture
DEPARTMENT: People & Culture
WORKS WITH: P&C Team, Facilities Team, EMTs, Physician Therapists, Certified Athletic Trainers, Consulting Physicians, CPR-trained staff
BENEFITS: Up to 3 Meals a day, when on duty, access to performances and classes
SCHEDULE: Tuesday - Sunday
COMPENSATION: $40 an hour
Jacob's Pillow seeks a Health Care Coordinator to join the Health Care Office team to lead the care and response to all medical, mental health, and musculoskeletal needs. This person will report to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, People, and Culture, and work closely with other healthcare office professionals. While on duty, the Health Care Coordinator will field and respond to care requests from a variety of people who are at Jacob's Pillow, including patrons, staff, artists, students, etc. The staff, interns, faculty, and students are all residents on campus; artists stay in hotels nearby. Campus-wide medical needs vary, ranging from trips and falls, heat illness, and musculoskeletal sprains and strains, to mental health first aid, stomach aches, bug bites, health promotion and injury prevention, etc. Care will be provided in the Health Office located on campus or, if necessary, referred to local health care professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide health care services including emergencies, illnesses, in-patient care, sick calls, and referral of patients to a local urgent care, specialist, or hospital, medication administration, etc.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care.
- Educate patients on best self-care practices for health and well-being in the workplace.
- Reviewing health history forms, meeting with new arrivals to campus and working with them to develop care plan during their stay.
- Performs focused interview to identify specific patient needs.
- Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition.
- Collaborate closely with the Certified Athletic Trainer and Wellness Consultant, consulting physicians, and other healthcare professionals to create a safe and inclusive environment for patients seeking care.
- Maintain health records files, daily log, and treatment book, etc. Ensure the completion of all paperwork and submit all forms in a timely fashion.
- Maintain medical equipment, supplies, first aid kits, medicines, inventory, etc.
- Help to ensure that the Health Office is kept clean, quiet, and prepared to deal with emergencies and on-going health care.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Working in health office, dance studios, theaters, and outdoor performance venues.
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting equipment up to 50 lbs with or without assistance.
- Long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Working in inclement weather and outdoor wooded area in the Berkshires.
- Exposure to fast-paced, high-stress working and performance environments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must be 21 or older
- Must be certified RN, LPN, NP, PA, or Master's degree in Athletic Training, Dance Medicine, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Massachusetts.
- Must have professional liability insurance.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Experience in nursing or athletic training (1 year preferred)
- Impeccable organization skills with the ability to be flexible and adapt in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to provide compassionate and comforting care to all.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in professional dance companies, conservatories, or performing arts institutions.
- Experience working with dancers or performing artists in injury prevention and rehabilitation.
- Advanced manual therapy certifications (e.g., myofascial release, active release technique).
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Understanding of nutrition and mental health considerations for dancers.
SKILLS & QUALITIES
- Commitment to holistic care and injury prevention.
- Ability to work collaboratively with dance faculty, choreographers, and production teams.
- Strong decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing rehearsal and performance schedules.
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
