Job Title:Furniture Repair TechnicianDepartment:Production & Skilled TradesCountry:United States of AmericaState/Province:North CarolinaCity:RaleighFull/Part Time:Full timeJob Summary:Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for shaping, finishing, and refinishing damaged furniture or new high-grade furniture to specified color or finish. Provides guidance and suggestions on product returns, procedures and solutions to ensure high quality services are provided to customers and vendors. Incumbent must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility of scheduling to ensure operational success. This includes, but is not limited to, day shifts, night shifts and weekend shifts.Job Description:Key Responsibilities:Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments, material, and equipment needsMix finish ingredients to obtain desired colors or shadesFill and smooth cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections, and repair broken parts, using plastic or wood putty, glue, nails, and/or screwsExamine furniture to determine the extent of damage or deterioration, and to decide on the best method for repair or restorationBrush, spray, or hand-rub finishing ingredients, such as paint, oil, stain, or wax, onto and into wood grain; then apply lacquer or other sealersMaintain the inventory for parts necessary for the installation and maintenance of appliances so they are stocked with sufficient quantities and reordered when depletedOperate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to setup for product repairCompile reports regarding returns activities and provide guidance/ suggestions returns information for specific product categories within a merchandising department. Provide procedures and solutions to ensure high quality services are provided to customers and vendorsEnsure compliance with established internal control proceduresMaintain inventory records and reporting on inventory levels and activity for product repairReceive, issue and store supplies and equipment; processing customer turn-ins; inspecting, verifying and counting supplies and equipment for accuracy, overall condition and accountabilityTrack and maintain quality assurance metrics and documentation, such as defect densities and open defect counts; assist in generating problem resolutions and reportingPerform check-ins and check-outs; verify order completeness and inspect for damageQualifications:Minimum Qualification:18 years or older with 1-2 years on-the-job experience with material handling, upholstery, and woodworking and/or military equivalent; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.Preferred Qualification: High School Diploma/GED with 1-2 years on-the-job experience with material handling, upholstery and woodworkingAND/OR Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move furniture/appliance up to 100 pounds)Ability to wear appropriate work attire (masks, respirator, gloves, footwear)Experience in warehouse distributionExperience in material handlingFollow arrow on a hand truckWillingness to work flexible workdays and hoursWillingness to take part in cross training and aiding other aspects of depot duties outside of your own daily tasksUpholstery skills, woodworking skillsTime Management SkillsThis position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.Compensation:Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
