Responsibilities As a Directional Drilling Operator/Locator, you are responsible for operating horizontal/directional drilling machines, location equipment, and product support equipment. You believe in doing the job right, being the best, and are ready for the challenge. Additionally, you will: Operate the Horizontal Directional Drilling Rig for the installation of underground telecommunications cables, including fiber optic cables. Ensure the safety of the public and other underground facilities. Perform all tasks in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment. Prepare and clean work sites, including traffic and pedestrian control. Read utility locations and coordinate the daylighting of these installations. Ensure all applicable permits and locations are complete and in place. Inspect work in progress to ensure that the workmanship meets specifications. Operate construction equipment to facilitate the alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to meet leveling specifications. Level the land to the final leveling specifications. Operate vehicles and operation equipment, from trucks to other equipment, as directed and certified. Perform proper maintenance, such as greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs to equipment. Lead teams in the field effectively as needed and directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications About You: Safety is part of your daily routine. You have a history of completing work with a high level of quality. You have a knack for solving difficult problems and enjoy a practical approach to your work. You are looking for long-term projects. You enjoy getting your hands dirty with your equipment. You have 3 years of experience as a Directional Drilling Operator/Locator. You have a valid driver's license. You must obtain a Class A CDL within 30 days of hire. You have experience with Vermeer or Ditch Witch units of different sizes and various brands of location equipment. You have experience in underground construction and fiber construction. Knowledge of city, county, and state authorization codes and related. You can read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams of the project construction process. You are willing to work outdoors in all types of weather and to work overtime as needed.
